Great Upgrade to an SE400/LB6800PRW
I got this machine as an upgrade to Project Runway Sewing and Embroidery Machine (same machine as a SE400). I am extremely happy with it so far. All the designs I custom made for my LB6800PRW work great on the PE770. I have yet to break a needle, even when sewing though 7 or more layers of embroidery. The PE770 can do the same design in about 25% less time too. The machine is much quieter than my LB6800PRW, even when sewing faster. The screen is easy to read, and using the features is second nature. The automatic needle threader works great as well, a lot better than the one on my LB6800PRW. There are a few things that could be better. The blue 'top' over the thread spool is annoying. It looks pretty, but it is in the way when I feed from large king spools or just swapping thread. I removed mine as it serves no purpose besides aesthetics. The machine does not come with a thread post to put on the bobbin winder like the Project Runway Sewing and Embroidery Machine. This makes it so the user has to always use the normal thread holder, which doesn't work well for short spools of thread like 550 yard spools. I use the post from my LB6800PRW, as it fits the bobbin winder post. The last concern that I have is with the USB connection. The machine takes a regular USB key to transfer patterns to the machine,w hich is a great feature. That way, you don't need a computer right next to the machine like you do for the LB6800PRW. However, the key sticks out from the side of the machine, and I worry that I will hit it on something and break either the USB key or the machine when I reach around the machine for thread. Between these 3 shortcomings, the machine only works well 'out of the box' with 1100 yard mini-king spools. These are very minor issues though. Overall, I highly recommend this machine.

Still learning the machine and enjoying the process. No problems so far. The machine stitches nicely. So many creative designs available so the sky is the limit

Love my Brother PE770
After a disappointing two years with a very expensive Singer Futura(a total lemon), I find this machine great for my embroidery work, easy to set up and transfer designs to. Very happy with this product.

Love my machine
Love my machine. I was completely new to embroidery and was able to learn the basics of this machine rather quickly. I love that it is numbered so that I know where I need to thread it.

wonderful machine
I am retired and do sew but thought I can expand my hobby with this embroidery machine. Waited a white till I wrote a review. I am having so much fun and made a few dollars in the process. Thank goodness for " you-tube" because no one I know has one in Philadelphia Embroidered baby bibs with child's name on it. Made many items for my grandchildren. Told I should go on ETSY, however I am retired, but I will think about it.

Amazing embroidery machine
Amazing embroidery machine! I have been using this to make custom patches and embroideries for my fashion collections and it has been one of my best purchases by far. The interface is extremely easy to figure out and operate. The machine also makes it very easy to import designs I've made on on my computer onto the machine. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a good embroidery machine!

Great machine for the price!
I have had my machine for about 3 months now. I will start off by saying I love the machine. I have turned it into a workhorse. I will be honest that I have had some of the issues that others have talked about. Being a first time embroiderer there is definitely a learning curve involved. For those that are looking to buy this machine that have never owned an embroidery machine, let me give you a few tips. 1. The first thing you want to do before you ever embroider anything is lower the tension by 1. I was having a lot of thread breakage and by doing this it has resolved almost all of those issues. 2. I highly suggest buying the Elipse 4-piece hoop set. The hoop that comes with the machine is extremely hard to take on and off. The ones that come with the Elipse set work perfectly with the machine. 3. I also suggest buying a thread holder for use with cross-wound thread. The machine has a horizontal spool pin which is not ideal for cross-wound thread. The thread unravels too fast and gets stuck on it. By having the separate thread holder I have alleviated those problems. It also allows me to use metallic thread without any issues. When originally looking at machines I debated on whether to get an all-purpose machine that would allow me to embroider and sew on the same machine. I'm very happy that I bought an independent embroidery machine. I have enough confidence in the machine now that I can let something embroider while sewing on my other machine. The biggest thing I use the machine for is quilt blocks. I bought precut 10" squares to embroider and then use in quilts. It took me a while to find the right combination of stabilizer for these to work. For a 5x7 hoop it is preferable to have a 10x12 piece of fabric and stabilizer - which means my fabric is a little small. I fixed all of this by using temporary adhesive spray on precut stabilizer. This has worked wonderful and the fabric doesn't slip at all. The one downside to the machine is that the display screen is quite small and only displays in black and white. It can be difficult to tell which pattern you are choosing when using the USB drive. I have solved this problem by only loading one or two patterns on the drive at a time. If you are looking for an economical machine that gives you a larger hoop size - this is the one for you!!

Best Entry Level Machine
This is my new hobby. This is a great machine and so easy to use. I did purchase a 4x4 hoop that does not come with it and find that I use it more than the 5x7 (also easier to get on and off than the 5x7). I have done a number of projects without any problem. I bought a high quality thread and change my needles out often. I just finished an applique baby quilt for my first grandson. It is a blast to be able to make professional looking applique and embroidery. I am in the process of making formal table napkins with cutaway embroidered corners. I will probably have to upgrade to a higher end brother machine because I enjoy this so much that I want some of the abilities of the pricier machines. This is a fantastic entry level machine and does incredible work for the price.

Love It!
This embroidery machine is awesome! Several owners had negative issues...I suggest if you purchase this particular embroidery machine that you remember to thread it correctly, push the bobbin down slightly after you insert it, make sure you use 90# wgt bobbin thread, and go to Brother's website for instructions on making adjustments to bobbin tension. Other weights of bobbin thread can be used, just adjust the bobbin tension and run test embroidery samples to make sure tension is correct (for both top and bobbin thread).
