Great machine!
I used to have an embroidery machine but haven't had one for many years. When we had our last son I knew I wanted one again so that I could make him cute things. This machine has been great. I've had no problems with it at all.

A great starter machine.
I haven't had my machine for a month, but I'm enjoying it. In my regular job, I run commercial embroidery machineso with 15 needles, so this little 1 needle machine is quite an adjustment. It's easy to set up and easy to load embroidery files on. It's file format is .PES but it also reads .DST I bought it to grow my little craft business....so far I'm excited about my creations. I've been making little voodoo dolls so far.

Good Machine at a Great Price
Works great and at a great price. Right out of the box I set it up and there were no problems. I also have the combination Sewing and Embroidery SE400 Brother machine, which has the 4x4 hoop size. So It really was no learning curve for embroidery setup. I wanted a bigger hoop size of 5x7, so I bought the PE770. This machine embroiders very well for my projects of fabric book covers, lace embellishments, bookmarks, and other projects.. I use a jump drive to import designs, which beats attaching the SE400 directly to the computer using cables, to import designs. I will be saving up to purchase the Elipse 4-Hoop Embroidery Package hoops, which other commenters have recommended. For the first time buyers- don't forget to registrar your product at the Brother site and they have many free designs there. I also have a Brother dealership nearby that I can bring my machine into for lessons and maintenance. This is a plus. I find that Brother machines are very user friendly and that there are models at all price ranges.

Experienced sewer and quilter loves the PE770
I love the Brother PE770 embroidery machine. I have a great sewing machine so only wanted a machine that does embroidery. I had actually purchased the Brother PE500 last year and enjoyed adding embroidery to quilts and gifts so much that I decided to upgrade to the larger 5 x 7 hoop . The PE770 is very easy to thread, wind bobbins, and off you go. It also is very easy to download designs from online web sites to a USB stick (not included), then place the stick in the PE770 and download new designs to the machine. The only regret I have is that I didn't spend the extra money in the beginning to get the larger machine. That would have saved me the trouble of selling the PE500. I don't think anyone would regret purchasing the PE770.

Love it and just keep buying them!
Excellent machine- this is my 3rd machine. I use it for very small production and it just keeps working and working. Two of my three are still in use, the 3rd is a backup. Keep the machines clean, especially the bobbin area, use good quality threads and you will have no problems. Only thing I would like different, is the USB connection cable to my laptop back. Machine 1 had that and I connected right to my laptop and stored by designs on that. However machines 2 and 3 only have a USD port where you load the design onto a USB stick. The design storage in machine is very small.

I upgraded for this only embroidery machine with a bigger embroidery area and I love it. So fast and reliable
Mrs.Grossman talking - After having for a couple of years the SE 400, I upgraded for this only embroidery machine with a bigger embroidery area and I love it. So fast and reliable. I'm delighted!

5.0 out of 5 starsHappy machine embroidery novice
I'm a novice to machine embroidery and have been using my Brother PE770. So far I am very pleased with it. I've monogrammed about 30 items (kitchen towels, onesies, burp cloths, tote bags) with no issues that I attribute to the machine. Because this is a popular machine, there are many tutorials and videos out there to help new users. I've been amazed with what I've been able to do already by purchasing and downloading fonts, and using them on my machine. The preloaded factory fonts and images aren't cute, so a buyer should plan to download fonts and appliqués separately.

Gets the Job Done!
I absolutely love this machine! I was new to machine embroidery, but did have a basic sewing knowledge, and this machine has been SO easy to learn & use! There is basically zero learning curve- it literally walks you through step by step & is extremely user-friendly. I was looking for something budget-friendly to start my home business with, and this has more than fit the bill. It stitches beautifully- several of the other reviewers mentioned having issues with thread nests....I di have that problem once in the beginning, but I just adjusted the tension on the bobbin casing & have had no issues since! Cannot say enough good things about this machine, I highly reccommend it! Love, love, love it!

Once all that's done - it's really an easy machine to use
I've owned it for about 5 months now - and probably done about 300 projects so far. I'm not a sewing person by any stretch. 1) Expect to spend another $100-$200 for stabilizer and additional frames. 2) Expect about $50 in thread to start 3) You should really invest at least $100 in a cheapo image->pes generator. Once all that's done - it's really an easy machine to use. My only complaint is the screen really isn't adequate for custom images - and telling which section is getting sewn next is nearly impossible and you probably need the original image with notes on it.
