THIS was the machine I wanted

Posted by Sara A Beckwith on 12th Jun 2018

Ok, so I originally bought the Singer XL 400 because it had a bigger field than this machine, but ended up returning it because it just could NOT stitch a single design without screwing up. It was frustrating in every way. THIS Brother PE770 may not be able to sew, but damn it if it doesn't do what the singer couldn't and do it WELL. I don't have to baby sit this machine. I can set it stitching a design and leave the room without fear that the thread will break or bunch. I've done towels, tee shirts, heavy lab coats, felt, all without issue. Not so much as a broken needle. The machine even tells you when the bobbin thread is low and cuts the thread for you at the end of each run. I haven't had any of the issues others have had with winding the bobbin, btw. You just need to follow the diagram. All in all, for a machine in this price range, this one is amazing! I look forward to all the projects I'll be able to personalize with it and even hope to have a small side business using it. SKIP getting one of the combo sewing/embroidery machines in this price range. They either work poorly (singer) or the embroidery field is too small. Get this guy and just buy a separate machine for just sewing. Better to have a machine that does one thing really well, than one of the combos who do it with mediocrity or just plain badly.

    Love it!

Posted by Customer on 11th Jun 2018

So far so good! I had no problems getting it up and running. I think getting the bobbin wound, machine threaded properly and using the correct stabilizer makes all the difference. It is easy to use and works for my home sewing. I love that there are a lot of videos on youtube that help with any questions you may have.

    it works great.

Posted by Deborah Martin on 11th Jun 2018

Brother PE770: I had trouble with the top thread looping on the bottom until I talked to a sewing machine repairman and he ask me if I was raising my presser foot when I threaded the machine which I maybe sometime and but not all the time. I started raising my presser foot and have had no more trouble, it works great.

    Absolute Novice

Posted by Camilla Rose on 11th Jun 2018

I'm an absolute novice to machine embroidery. I could not believe the few products I've made in just a few days. One mastered, threading is a breeze. I just needed to take my time and absorb the instructions first. As far as price, this was the most incredible price I found. Dealer had a list price of $1500 for the PE80. The only difference is the build in Disney designs that I have no need for. Dealer lowered price as a special for $1200. Amazon had it for less than half of that price. I've compared prices on may embroidery products. I believe Amazon offers some of the best prices and either free or reduced delivery. Found better prices on Amazonand now I need to return some items to competitor stores.

This is a nice machine for the price compared to more expensive models

Posted by Customer on 11th Jun 2018

This is a nice machine for the price compared to more expensive models. I enjoy embroidering on it. I am going to order the upright thread stand, because my upper thread breaks because it gets wrapped around the spool pin frequently. I have done some amazing projects already and have had this for just over a month. I purchased a set of 4 hoops to use with this because only a 5x7 comes with the machine. It is nice to have (2) 5x7 hoops because you can be hooping another project while still embroidering with the first hoop on the machine. I ordered the precut tear away stabilizer verses the roll, it is already cut for you. I tried a roll first and cut my stabilizer too lg many times, wasting some. Make sure to read your manual. It is easy to follow. It takes a bit to get the hang of repeating some stiches where you will need to at times. Also, turning the machine off during your project, read your manual first before turning off. Will need to know the needle count so you can start at that point next time. There is a learning period with this machine. Automatic needle threader works every time and saves me from eye strain. It is a real nice machine. I may give it 5 stars in another month when I have used it more, we will see.

    Love it!

Posted by Reader on 11th Jun 2018

Does what it is supposed to do. Works like a dream! It can use any thread, not just the Brother Pacesetter. It can also use 60 wt bobbins, not just the 90 wt bobbin thread that comes with the machine. This is my second Brother embroidery machine. My best hint is to always use a thread stand. Amazon sells one for under $5.00. This keeps the thread from getting tangled inside of the machine. Only use good quality thread too and stabilize properly. You will be very happy with this!

    My first embroidery machine.

Posted by Wendy Lee S-G on 11th Jun 2018

Tempers may flare, but this machine is good once you get to know it better. It's like learning a new relationship and then you fall in love. The directions are clear on the basics, but there are pickles that you need to go to youtube and watch help videos on. Thats how I am clearing up my problems with the machine. Pictures of machine and my very first EVER practice/project.

    What dreams are made of

Posted by Sandy W on 8th Jun 2018

The best buy of 2017! I love it. I also bought the thumb drive. I saved up for it. Since it is a non-essential in our household, it took me awhile. I dreamed about it for 3 years. It has everything that was in my dreams and more.

Great machine at a great price

Posted by T. Fink on 8th Jun 2018

This Brother machine is a workhorse. I embroider quite a bit as I make/sell purses and this machine does an excellent job. It is a single needle so that you do have to change colors manually, but it is very easy to thread so it isn't a problem. Very easy to adjust the pattern that you are using to change the size, angle, etc and test it. Very simple to use a UBS memory stick to transfer patterns from the internet to the PE770. The only down sides that I can find is that the display is small and not color, so if you have a lot of patterns, make sure to put them in folders so that you can identify them. It's hard to distinguish from the thumbnail before you load it into memory. You must pay attention to the color chart that comes with the pattern because the machine does not always read the correct color. That may be the fault of the pattern maker vs the machine though. For the money this machine rocks!
