    Perfect

Posted by nancydrew on 6th Jun 2018

After getting estimates totaling over $350.00 to embroider labels for a genealogy quilt I wanted to make, I decided to put that money toward an embroidery machine of my own. After reading many reviews and speaking with other folks who owned embroidery machines, I decided to purchase the Brother 770. I had some reservations based on reviews I read but took a chance anyway thinking I could always return the machine to Amazon if it didn't work out and I 'm so glad I did. At first I broke a needle and the thread that came with the machine kept breaking which was frustrating. Then I ordered So Fine Thread from Superior Threads online and the whole experience changed. I also bought embroidery needles (the ones with red on the needle) and I haven't broken a needle since. It was also suggested to use a free-standing thread holder, which I already owned, so I purchased my thread on a spool and use the free-standing holder which works very well. The free-standing thread holder can also be purchased through Superior. Like anything else it just takes a lot of practice to get the desired effect. It took a while to work with the hoop and get the fabric and stabilizer taught enough for my letters to lay flat. My embroidery experience got off to a shaky start but I'm so glad I made this purchase. I have also enrolled in a class at my local Brother dealer to learn how to maximize my embroidery experience. This machine is a thumbs up!

    Excellent for the most part.

I initially reviewed this very poorly because I honestly had no idea what I was doing. A year later, I've used this machine on well over 300 garments, and I'm in love. If you know what you're doing, it works like a dream. But unfortunately, it's not intuitive. So if this is your first machine or you don't have anyone to help you understand it, using this may seem like an uphill battle in the beginning. I really like that I can easily transfer my designs with a flash drive. I like that I can save my most used designs into a 'favorites' tab. I like that the basic fonts the machine comes with stitch out beautifully and that with proper formatting, imported fonts do as well. The bobbin is incredibly easy to wind, the thread is fairly easy to ready at the needle. The only true objection I have is that my needles break too often. The upper thread will get caught on its own spool very easily and cause tension that snaps the needle. Not only is this annoying and expensive, but it's dangerous to be having sharp needle tips flying around the room suddenly. I've read that others purchase and use a stand-up type holder for the spool of upper thread and that it prevents this problem. If you're going to buy the machine, you may as well buy the holder as well. Overall, it's been wonderful for my business and really does create an amazing product. You just have to be willing to mess up and learn for a bit before getting the best possible finish.

LOVE the machine HATE the hoop connections that came with the machine.

Posted by Becky Clanton on 6th Jun 2018

I absolutely LOVE the machine and definitely recommend it. HOWEVER I HATE the hoop that came with the machine. I have a HORRIBLE time connecting the hoops that came with the machine and thought it was something I was doing. t HOWEVER I ordered extra hoops so that I could be getting other projects ready while working and the hoops I ordered are SUPER easy to connect. This DOES NOT make me happy that the hoops that came with the machine are so hard to connect. I have read other reviews with the same complaint. I think Brother SHOULD replace the original hoops for hoops that are easier to connect. It is SO bad that I have marked the hoops as 1 and 2 and ONLY USE 1 when I absolutely have to . Otherwise I love the machine.

My second Brother and I am still very happy

Posted by deeter on 6th Jun 2018

I purchased the PRW6800 a couple of years ago. I was a sometimes-sewer until I received that machine. I was having a lot of fun sewing and was even selling some of the things I was making. However, I quickly outgrew the limiting 4x4 embroidery field. I did some research on a dedicated machine with a 5x7 field. I started with a lean towards Brother as I was familiar and happy with brand and was hoping that most accessories would be interchangeable. (They are with the exception of the frames.) After hours of searching for and reading online manuals, reviews from sewing enthusiasts, professionals, and technicians I decided on thiePE770. I'm 4 months in with near daily use and I still love this machine. It's a reliable workhorse. My PRW6800 is an excellent machine, however I rarely use it for embroidery anymore as I can now multitask with embroidery running on the PE770 while I'm sewing quilt tops and such on the aforementioned machine.

    Great machine

Posted by A. Bennett on 5th Jun 2018

I just began sewing less than a year ago but I quickly decided I wanted an embroidery machine since my daughter is two years old. I did the research and decided on this model since it can handle 5x7. I LOVE IT! I read all the reviews and was worried I would have problems but I've had the machine for 6 months and the only problem I've had was right after I received it. I bought a case of thread (the cheap stuff) and the machine kept eating the thread and making a giant mess. Once I ordered Polystar thread I never had another problem. Just go ahead and spend $100 to get the giant thread case from Polystar if you're going to be doing some serious embroidery, as I have done. I can't say anything negative about this machine. My primary sewing machine is a brother so the controls were very intuitive. I purchased the Embrilliance software (I think for less than $100) because I have a Mac and not many of the popular embroidery softwares are compatible with Mac. I love the embrilliance. It does not create designs but rather allows you to position your current design files (in other words add a name below an applique, etc) It's VERY basic but that's what I wanted as a beginner. So don't be afraid of this machine...once you practice it's so easy and fun!

    Great machine for the price!

Posted by StephanieC on 5th Jun 2018

I ordered this for my daughter in law for a Christmas present. We opened it Christmas morning and had a towel embroidered within an hour. Very easy to use, I have 2 embroidery machines (Bernina and Babylock) and this one was easier to get up and running than either of mine. The stitch quality is very good also. Great entry level machine for anyone, or perfect for someone who doesn't mind being limited by the 5x7 hoop. I've heard that you can use larger hoops if you split the design but she only wanted it for smaller monograms so it's great for her.

I love this, it's my first embroidery machine and it ...

Posted by Lauren Zuniga on 5th Jun 2018

I love this, it's my first embroidery machine and it definitely took some trial and error to get all the settings right. If you're not experienced in any kind of sewing/embroidery machine, it would probably be worth taking it into a dealer to have them help you get it set up correctly if you are having issues.

    Brother 770 embroidery machine

Posted by Douglas on 5th Jun 2018

NEW INFO: I've had this for a couple of months. Began to have "serious" problems only to discover that the problem was the thread I was using. Very important to buy good quality EMbroidery thread, to have EMbroidery needles (not regular sewing needles) and to have good quality bobbin thread (I purchased prewound thread). I purchased some pretty thread from Amazon that was very affordable but a disaster for the machine. My best advice: Buy good quality needles, thread and special bobbin thread for embroidery machine, not for sewing. Received this machine a little over a week ago. Have embroidered six items with great success and ease. As far as I can tell, this machine will do much of what comparable machines for twice the money will do. I did order the extra hoops and purchased the digitizing software off of ebay, as the ability of this machine is somewhat limited in size and creative ability. Putting the extras to work, I believe this machine can accomplish what would have cost 10 times as much.
