Easy for beginners, with lots of features for those more experienced!

I am completely new to machine embroidery and got this machine on a day when the cost was very low at Amazon. I received it in 2 days and was up and running with it in that very day! It is so easy to use and the instructions are great! It is a great beginner machine because it does a lot and has a large enough hoop to do larger items. I am very satisfied and would highly recommend this machine to anyone wanting to try machine embroidery!

Excellent if you take care of it like you should

I had my first one for 10 years using it consistently. This is my second. I like that I can keep doing what I love to do, hopefully for another 10 years. Just follow the directions, take care to clean it regularly. Use the right thread and change your needle with each new project.

    I LOVE LOVE this machine

Posted by morgan seamon on 22nd May 2018

I LOVE LOVE this machine!!! I just got it a few days ago and it does wonderfully!!! Although it took me forever to figure out of course because I'm new at the whole embroidery machine thing, that you DO NEED a software on your computer to be able to make different designs on this machine! Theres a whole lotta steps but once you do it a few times and learn it and get in the grove of how everything works you will be addicted! I can speak from experience because I think I've monogramed everything in my closest. LOL!!!! So if your thinking about buying this machine I'm telling you NOW in advance so you won't be scratching you head or hanging it down low full of disappointment because you can't figure out how In the world this thing works! Don't give up!! The software I have on my computer witch I think it's pretty reasonably priced it's a one time payment of 65 dollars you can try it out before you buy it for 30 days free!!! It's called sew what pro! Google it!! Works great!!! I love it! Very easy to transfer stuff to the wonderful embroidery machine!! If you get this machine you won't de disapointed!! Oh and It has a safety switch on it too by the way... We learned that the hard way after my sister poked her finger LONG STORY!! She's fine! Lol! I love my machine!!! It's amazing!!!

    GREAT machine for the money!!

Posted by MARCIA on 22nd May 2018

My first embroidery machine was a Brother 950D, which is a lovely embroidery/sewing machine, but only accepts a 4x4 inch hoop. I quickly learned that I needed a 5x7 inch hoop in order to create larger designs and made-in-the-hoop stuffed toys for my grandchildren. I took a chance purchasing the Brother 770 here on Amazon and have not been sorry. Yes, yes, the grey and black screen makes most things look like funny little blobs, but other than that, this is a wonderful machine!! I've had it for several months and I've done everything from embellishing shirts and hoodies, to towels, to table linen ... and my favorite, creating in-the-hoop dolls and toys for my grandchildren. Threading the machine is very easy. Just follow the numbers on the machine. Threading the needle is brainless: press the level and POOF! Your needle is threaded! You can do a small amount of editing on the machine, such as making the design a bit larger or smaller. You can also adjust the stitch density, which you want to do when embroidering on towels. You can make mirror images and do a few other editing tasks on the machine. The machine comes with some nice designs but it's so easy to download fabulous designs from the Internet or purchased CD's, transfer them to a stick drive, plug it into the machine and start stitching. Although I purchased the machine on Amazon, my local dealer (I bought my Brother 950D and Brother sewing machine from them) offers the opportunity to purchase a service contract on machines not purchased through them. I brought in the machine for their inspection and they said it was a GREAT machine and they were willing to cover it for a reasonably priced 4 year service contract. So if anything goes wrong I can bring it to my dealer and get the same service as if I had purchased the machine from them. I can also bring it in for annual check ups at no charge. So if your local dealer offers the same opportunity, you can purchase this machine from Amazon and still have it taken care of by your local Brother dealer. As for the blobs, I use the machine in conjunction with my computer embroidery software and I can do all the editing I want, including adding font, on my computer, save the design and transfer it to my 770 with the stick drive. I also use the software to print up templates and preview the stitching sequence. I use Embird software, which I find is the least expensive software out there and for my needs, it's fabulous! You can download a free demonstration of their software to try before purchasing it a ridiculously low price. So ... if you're just starting this fabulous and entertaining hobby and don't want to invest $1500 or more on a machine, I do highly recommend the Brother 770 as your first machine.

    Great great machine!

Posted by Danielle Schumer on 22nd May 2018

Bought this back in October, it is not January 1st so I guess it is time to review. Let me start off by saying I am not new to machine embroidery. I have a singer futura xl 550 that I HATE. Its currently in a permanent time out because I cant afford to send it off and have it looked at with no gurantees and costing over $300. So we bought this machine instead where I can get it serviced semi locally (traveling about 40 minutes, instead of 8+ hours away or shipping for the singer) for around $100. I have not had any issues with this machine other than the hoop being a pain in the butt at times, especially when the part that it snaps on to is position high up on the arm. I plan on ordering more hoops in the near future and most have said the other hoops you buy are a lot easier to snap on and off. I really have no complaints. I have put in well over 1million stitches already on it, and its still going strong. I have not had it serviced yet and will probably wait til it starts giving me issues. An absolutely wonderful machine that I enjoy using!

    Great fun - Nice machine!

Posted by dlh on 21st May 2018

I'm really happy with this machine. I vacillated for months before giving in. I bought it late Nov and my return window was Dec end. I used it heavily during December because I wanted it to break within the first 30 days if it was going to break. It performed great though. Nary a mechanical problem. Some things to consider - while it's easy to use, like all things, there is a learning curve. I'd suggest practicing a lot on different fabric, different textures, with different stabilizers, until you get a sense of how it all works. Also, the end product will only be as good as the design. The built-in designs are great; but I wanted things that weren't available as built-in. I bought a couple of applications so I could make my own designs - there's definitely a learning curve there. Once you get it though, it's a lot of fun. Also, some people complain about the thread tangling, or fabric getting ruined ... I was worried about that. You can't just press "go" and walk away to come back to a great results. I find I have to babysit it, which means hovering over it for 20 and 30 minutes at times. I watch it carefully and if there's a weird stitch, or weird noise, I immediately stop it. (Again, learning curve and getting to know the machine.) It's just thread, so you can pull it out and then adjust the digital design - you can back it up a few stitches to pick up the stitches you removed, or back it up an entire thread color. It's actually pretty friendly and easy to recover from inevitable problems. It's also very easy to change threads during the embroidery process. That's a big plus since many designs have multiple colors. I didn't really need this machine because I don't embroider much; but am glad I bought it. It's been a lot of fun. Highly recommend! the perfect upgrade

Posted by TX on 21st May 2018

upgraded from using my SE425 for both sewing and embroidery. I am SO pleased with this machine. Simple to use, expandable, and user friendly. Only thing I didnt realize before hand was it needs a flash drive to upload the files, my old machine came with a usb cord and port. I havent tried a standard usb cord yet, just a flash drive. Only had a few days and already worked on a handful of orders. I couldnt speak more highly of this machine

    I love my PE770

Posted by Richard K. on 21st May 2018

I love my PE770! I started with the PE500 because I was not sure if I would be able to figure out the embroidery machine and I wanted to spend as little as possible for an unknown. I LOVED the pe500 so much that within a year, I also bought the PE770. Original plan was to sell pe500, but I love it so much I cannot part with it, so I am enjoying both of them. These machines do beautiful embroidery, unbelievable for the price. There are several FaceBook pages for owners of these machines, and the help, advice, tips you can get on there are so valuable. You would have to pay almost twice this price for any other machine with these features. I have been sewing for 30 years and have always used Bernina machines, I love good quality machines, and for embroidery I say go Brother or go home :)

    Love it...love it...love it!!!!!!!!!!!1

Posted by Eve on 21st May 2018

I am a first time embroider and spent weeks trying to decide between machines. There are so many to choose from especially those machines with larger hoops. The winning point with this one is the USB port advantage with a flash drive. The difference is I can transfer my design to the lil flash drive instead of using my laptop. It has to be connected the ENTIRE time the machine is running so that makes the laptop unavailable to use for anything else. I have read the manual and did 3 designs as soon as I opened the box. The most important thing to remember is to SET THE TENSION OF THE THREAD before you start the design...I didn't and ended up with a rats nest in the bobbin area. After I cleaned that up...everything worked perfectly. I also filled 3 bobbins and no issues with that either. The manual says to use 90 wt bobbin thread not 60 wt like most machines so do not purchase the prefilled bobbins that are sold in places but some owners of this machine say they have no issues but I decided to follow the manufactures recommendations. I also tested the embroidery design product Sew What Pro and combined a free design off of the web and added text to it and the 770 did it beautifully...no issues AFTER I set the tension to 5. I am going to love this!
