Problem fixed for $39
I bought my Sparrow from an online dealer, not from Amazon. I fell in love immediately with the stitch quality and ease of use. However, almost exactly one month after my purchase, I was sewing a pair of pajama bottoms from lightweight flannel when the needle went haywire. When I started the seam, the needle began going up and down at full speed. I took my foot off the pedal. Nothing happened. I hit the stop button. Nothing happened. In the few seconds it took to turn the machine off at the power switch, the needle was bent. As you can imagine, there was a huge thread nest under the feed dogs and around the bobbin case. I cleared the thread nest, rethreaded both top and bobbin threads, inserted a new needle and tried again. Same thing happened. Again the needle was severely bent, thread nest, and the hand wheel would not turn. I removed the thread nest, needle and both upper and lower threads. Tried again. Amazingly it works without needle and thread. I am giving it three stars in hopes that it can be repaired. If it can't, I will revise my rating. This machine was to be a replacement for my Janome 4623 LE Plus which has been and continues to be a workhorse without a single problem in 15 years. I guess I just got a damaged machine. I sure did love it while it lasted. Update: I am happy to report that the problem was the bobbin case that had slipped out of position. The technician said the case had slipped forward. He realigned it and tightened the screws. Easy fix. I can continue to enjoy my Sparrow. Updated my rating to 5 stars.

Lightweight for easy carry, but sews like a heavyweight.
This is a great little machine. Lightweight, so it's easy to take along, but it sews like a heavyweight machine. I have Berninas, so for this machine to impress me take a lot. I believe the inner works are all metal. You won't find a better machine, at this price.

What a wonderful machine, and so easy to use
What a wonderful machine, and so easy to use. I have "played" with all kinds of fabric and stitches, and the stitch quality is flawless. The big selling point of this machine for me were all the wonderful reviews it got, and they were absolutely right. You wont be sorry you bought it!
