Perfect for an adult beginner
Janome 2212 has all the basic stitches a serious beginner needs when learning to sew curtains and clothes. It threads easily and has an easy to follow guide book. It comes with a plastic cover which is rugged enough for home storage. It feels steady even when you get up to a faster speed. I bought the same machine in the UK for my daughter, and it has been without problems for 2 years. This one I bought for my daughter in law in the US. Practise on spare material forward and reverse to get rid of may surplus oil it has around the bobbin area, before starting a project!

Received machine on time. Easy to set up-but did have problems with getting it to run correctly at first. After taking the bobbin and bobbin casing apart, then removing the needle that it was shipped with-and replaced the needle, pushing it up all the way-the machine worked perfectly. We suspect the needle was not properly inserted when shipped. So far have sewed a quilt together and made café curtains. Love it.

They were the nices people to deal with, I had a problem with the first one I got, and once I got in touch with the dealer, he sent a replacement out within two days, and I love it, just what I was looking for, and I have try other brands, this one sews beautifully so far, haven't use it much for I mainly wanted it for mending.

Good solid machine for a beginner
Love the machine. I am a begging sewer who has not sewed it years. It was easy to set up once I understood how to put the front loading bobbin in! It makes a "q" instead of a "p" with the thread. Tension is always good at 4. Glad I bought this one.

Nice Little Non-Computerized Machine!
Great all-purpose little sewing machine. It's easy to thread and maintain and it even does a few more advanced jobs like automatic buttonholes. You might not even need the manual if you've had basic knowledge of other machines since most things are pretty self-explanatory.
