as a beginner I LOVE IT!!!
I bought another machine before this one and I ended up returning it because it was too difficult for me to operate. It was a great model but as a someone with NO experience I was really lost so I found it hard to work with it. I was also afraid of buying a piece of junk but I've had this for over a year and I LOVE IT! This was not my first choice but it won me over with it's durability. It's been so easy to care for and it is so well made I feel like I've bought a $1,000+ machine. I Love the way it sews. I've had thread jams but they were few and far between and it was easy to clear out. Sewing on this has made me fell like I've been a master sewer for years. One thing I don't care for is the little flat head tool that comes with it as it did not help me to open the screws. I had to use another one I had but I would not let that stop you from buying this machine. As I said before, this was not my first choice but know that I've seen it in action I can say that it has been a GREAT CHOICE and I'm so glad that I bought it! I highly recommend this machine.

Very Pleased for My Purpose
I ordered this sewing machine to be delivered to my daughter's house so I would have it for myself for "entertainment" since she does not sew and I was going to be in her home for awhile. I wanted a simple, basic machine, not too expensive that was lightweight and reliable. I live in an age-qualified community and belong to the Sewing and Quilting Club which has many Janome machines so I thought it must be a quality "robust" machine. I have not been disappointed. I also thought I would have to research and purchase a walking foot to sew over the many layers of fabric for the quilts I was making, but this machine went over the fabric layers without a problem. I am very pleased with this purchase for my purposes.

Great machine
I love this sewing machine. Janome is a wonderful brand, definitely a million times better than Brother. It even comes with spare needles, I broke my needle last night and it was easy to replace it and keep going. My only complaint is that the foot pressure is a bit too light and is not adjustable, which makes it hard to sew tough materials like faux fur. But other than that it is great. I use it for making costumes.

If you're looking for a basic powerhouse sewing machine, go for this. I got it on sale and I am so pleased with the product as well as the cost. I am still getting used to rotating the hand wheel to set the needle in the correct position before sewing though! If you are having issues with threads being jammed in the bobbin, make sure your needle is at the highest point!!

Sewing your own clothes is one the best inventions since biblical times. I am so happy with this sewing machine. It works so smoothly. Yes, it has cheap like plastic parts, but it's very user friendly. I have sew possibly one hundred things by now. It has the capability to embroider as well if you are daring enough. Here the greatest part: besides warranty, it can take almost any generic foot and work just as well as the name brand part. God bless you guys!

Wonderful machine for a great price!
This is a wonderful machine, and I'm so glad I bought it! My mom works for a fabric store where they only sell Berninas, and she is super picky about machines, Janome is the more cost effective version of the Bernina. When she came over to teach me how to use the machine she kept oohing and ahhing about the quality of this machine. I know this would have cost at least double if bought at a fabric store. I had it up and running and made my first project the day it arrived! I love it.

This is a great basic machine. It has all the stiches I will need. Easy to set up and thread. A perfect machine for anyone who needs a good machine! I didn't want the computerized machines and this is perfect for me. It comes with a set of needles and a few presser feet. Does not come with a walking foot, which I was hoping it would. It's a low shank machine with snap on presser feet---so finding feet that fit should not be a problem. I like the vertical bobbin too. I don't like the cheap plastic of some machines. It does everything I was hoping for!
