Total beginner
Purchased this after a long research. I was a complete beginner wanting to learn to sew. This machine was perfect for me. Watched few youtube videos and read a manual and voila, I can sew now. Very easy to figure out machine. Simple but has everything you need. No mechanical issues at all. Very sturdy. Can sew through pretty much anything I need it to. I love it and would recommend to everybody. Great price too.

Sturdy and great running machine
This Janome is a good runner. The stitches are nice, and it is a sturdy machine. Problem is that the so-called 25 years warranty, if bought through another dealer other than Janome, isn't valid. For the money it costs, it doesn't matter to me. I did some practice stitches and they are really nice. When I first got the machine the feeddog was down, and I called the dealer, and they did help me with locating the feeddog controller, which is where the bobbin is located. After it was adjusted, it worked fantastic. I would certainly recommend this machine to anyone wanting a good practical machine, for sewing. I love it!

Good basic machine.
Very satisfied with this machine for easy transport to classes, reliability and ease of use. Will be a good first machine for my granddaughter one day. This is my third janome!

Awesome!
This machine is a champ! Basic machine, I don't need a bunch of fancy stitches. Has made many quilts and is still going strong. The only time I have jamming issues is if I use cheap thread, so buy the good stuff and you're set!

Exactly what I wanted
Good solid machine with all the features necessary for home use. Have only just started to use it, but its bobbin rewind works and it handles straight stitches on terry cloth with no problem. So for now, without knowing how well it sews on other fabrics, I give it Good rating.

stars... my first sewing machine as a beginner so I love it. It has a light which is great
This is my first sewing machine as a beginner so I love it. It has a light which is great. However you cannot easily change the foot to a different one without unscrewing. Unlike some other machines where you can just pop it on and off this one is a little more complex. Still very great the instructions included will get you started off nicely!

no issues!
I've had this machine for a while now and have yet to run into any problems. I've been using it a lot lately for alterations and it works wonderfully. I recommend this machine for anyone starting out sewing as I am- it's very easy to work with and as I said, I have yet to experience any bobbin problems, etc.

Highly recommend for the beginner
I purchased 5 of these machines for a startup sewing school in my home for beginner sewing classes. These machines work like a charm! I love the ease of use and they are sturdy. I will purchase additional machines as my school grows, but for now these are high on my recommendation list for students.
