    Love this machine!

Posted by Carols Stable Pal on 15th May 2017

Very nice machine. Received it on March 30 and set it up that evening to see how I liked it. Am a long time quilter and I find the Janome 2212 everything it was said to be. It is easy to set up. Easy to use. Easy on the pocket book and I am very happy with this purchase. Have sewn 4 flannel quilts on it since I got it and am most happy with every feature. I might add that the 4 quilts are rag quilts and the machine never hesitated to sew right on over as much as 4 layers of flannel as well as a layer of cotton batting.

Perfect Machine for Beginners and Experts Alike

Posted by Ashley on 9th May 2017

I have been in the market for my own sewing machine for a few months. My mother has been sewing all of my life, so I caught on to the craft at an early age and enjoyed tinkering on her machine to make little projects. As an adult, I have been making trips to her house to use her machine when needed. I recently decided that I'd like to be able to make and mend at my leisure with my own machine, so I started researching and comparing the top brands on Amazon. I didn't want to spend more than $175 on a sewing machine that I wouldn't be using everyday, but I also didn't want a low-quality machine that would only sew one layer of material at a time. My initial needs for the machine were Halloween curtains, Halloween costumes and leather seat covers for my car. Obviously, I needed a machine that would allow me to sew through leather so I started looking for "Heavy Duty" sewing machines. My first search led me to a Singer, which is what my mother has and what I'm used to. I literally had that machine in my Amazon cart and was about to check out when this Janome caught my eye in the recommended section. After reading the reviews and comparing the two machines, I knew this was the one and I bought it on the spot. I am so glad that I did. This machine performs all the basic functions of any standard sewing machine and it does them extremely well. The speed with which it sews is phenomenal; I finished a quick set of curtains in under ten minutes and was pleasantly surprised with the results. The Exclusive Bonus Bundle is also fantastic. The other machine I was considering hardly included any extras, but this one has a full pack of extra bobbins, two packs of replacement needles, replacement presser feet, and a METAL (not plastic) 4-step buttonhole foot as well as a detailed and helpful instruction manual. It has the ability to sew 12 different stitches (I have only experimented with a few, but they have all worked beautifully) and I have not had issues with my thread breaking even once (a far cry from my previous sewing machine experiences). I find myself looking around the apartment for things to mend or re-purpose so that I can keep using my machine! When I'm finished with a project, my extras and tools go inside the slide out compartment on the machine, the dust cover goes on top, and the machine and power cord go into the closet. I don't have to leave it out because it's too heavy to move, and it's always a breeze to set up; just plug it in and go! All in all, I couldn't be more pleased with this purchase. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned seamstress, this machine offers a top quality performance to help you create beautiful projects with ease. I recommend the Janome 2212 Sewing Machine one hundred percent.

A great machine for a beginner

Posted by Erin Ems on 9th May 2017

My Singer crapped out on me after very little usage so I decided to switch to Janome. I've made a pros and cons list to describe my experience with this machine. Pros: - the price was right - 25 year warranty. - This thing sews through 4 layers of fleece like a champ, it's definitely well made. - It has all the stitches I'll need as well as the option of adjusting the length and tension, which is a must. - The bobbin loads in the front and it's easy to insert and remove a new one. The only time the machine jammed was completely my fault and it was easy to fix, I just had to remove to bobbin and re-thread the machine, no big deal. - easy to thread as there are numbers indicating where the thread goes, even an absolute beginner could thread this thing Cons: - the instructions are not written as well as they could be. I found a few typos and the wording is confusing at times, especially when loading the bobbin. Just remember to put the bobbin in when it looks like a "9" instead of a "p", THEN snap it in the machine. -this machine sews FAST. If you're an absolute beginner then I suggest barely touching the pedal because too much pressure will have you sewing at the speed of light. This is a good and bad thing. -You can't adjust the speed like you can with more expensive models, I know the Janome Magnolia has that option so if that's appealing to you, then I recommend that machine instead. I don't count off for this though because a speed adjuster is not advertised, therefore it's not fair to count off, especially since the machine works well otherwise. I received this on tuesday and today is friday and I've already completed a pillowcase and 3 fleece blankets. I give this machine 5/5 stars because it met all of my expectations and everything works perfectly. If my opinion changes, I'll update this review.

    I'm in love!

Posted by Sarah H on 8th May 2017

I have literally never sewed anything before in my life (for the record, I'm 32). I recently decided I'd like to be able to make some things, and after some consideration, decided to get my own sewing machine. After reading ridiculous numbers of reviews on Amazon and elsewhere, and more YouTube videos than I can count (there's one by the Crafty Gemini detailing how to use this particular machine, which is super helpful and swung me into clicking the "buy it now" button), I finally decided on this one. And now I'm obsessed. There are a ton of useful "how to"s online, to make just about anything. The day it arrived, I made a pincushion. The next day, I made a tablecloth (my hem was TERRIBLE, but who's going to look at the hem? It looks great on my table). The next day, I made a purse (word to the wise: your hemming is SLIGHTLY more important on a purse than a tablecloth, because people will see if your hem is super crooked on a purse). I'm now a frequent flier at my local JoAnn Fabric and have basically taken over my kitchen with projects and fabric swatches. I've read the reviews that say this is a beginner machine, and doesn't do a lot of more advanced things, but as it stands right now I don't even know what else I would need. I also decided to go with this machine because it's mechanical. I thought at first that the ease of a computer machine would be better, but I was worried that there would be more parts to break with a computerized machine. I love having the light to illuminate my work (that might be common on sewing machines, I don't know. It's nice to have), and this thing has sewn through everything I've thrown at it like a pro. Vinyl, imitation suede, brocade fabric - I feel like I can do anything with this machine. I highly recommend it!

    Great machine!

Posted by R. Smith on 7th May 2017

The Janome 2212 is a great sewing machine, especially for beginners and those who are looking for a less complicated machine. When we set out to find a sewing machine, we wanted to find one that met four criteria: A.) It had to be affordable. We did not have several hundred dollars to invest in a sewing machine. B.) We wanted it to be mechanical. Computerized machines are nice, but they tend to break down more often and are more complicated to use. A good mechanical machine with a metal body will last a lifetime; once the computer breaks down in a computerized machine, it's done for. (Some of them can be fixed, but it's cheaper to buy a new machine.) C.) The machine had to be dependable. D.) We wanted a machine that could be used for quilting and other projects that require several layers. Too many of the less-expensive machines are so cheaply made or so lightweight that they can't be used for any serious work. The 2212 fit all of these criteria. We decided on it after an extensive search. We read all of the reviews for this and several other machines and then went to a local sewing center to try it out. We've had the machine for two weeks now and have used all of the different features. It works great. We've also made several big projects using this machine, so we know it works well. We finished an art bag for a cousin's birthday last night. Some of the stitches had to go through 10 layers, most of them heavyweight, and the machine didn't so much as hiccup.

Janome 2212 Sewing Machine Includes Exclusive Bonus Bundle

Posted by Vicky on 5th May 2017

After an extensive search online, I've decided to get Janome 2212 sewing machine. This is one of the best sewing machines I had. I highly recommend it to those who are beginners in sewing and those who wanted to use a less complicated sewing machine. It is also recommended to professionals who wanted to use a less complicated machine. It delivers professionally. It is very affordable for a sewing machine that can do so much and can keep up with professional users. It is very mechanical and comes with a sturdy body that could really last long. It is a heavy duty sewing machine even if it is lightweight. I use mine for quilting and other sewing projects that require sewing several layers, around 8 to 10 layers, of fabrics and it delivers superbly good considering I got it very cheap and very light weight. With its price, usability and excellent delivery, I am giving it a high rating. It exceeded my expectations!

Excellent machine that is lightweight enough to take to classes

Posted by Katie on 15th Aug 2015

I was worried about this being an inexpensive machine, but found it to be an excellent machine that is lightweight enough to take to classes. I wanted to buy two machines so I could leave them at my adult daughters' homes. I purchased one at first and used it for a month's worth of sewing (I sew a lot as I have a doll clothes business) and took it to several quilt classes. I have used it to repair my son-in-law's firefighter uniforms and other heavy things, too. I'm now ordering the second one for the other daughter's home. As a Pfaff and Elna user, I find this machine to be better than its price point.
