Just What I Wanted!
I LOVE my new Janome 2212! It's inexpensive and simple to use, but does everything I need. It's of the same design as my old Kenmores. one of which lasted 60 years and the other is still being used by my daughter after 35 years. I look forward to many years of use from my Janome. Just What I Wanted!

I thought they were made in Japan!
I taught my 9 yr old granddaughter to sew on my 50 yr old Sears machine and wanted buy her a machine of her own. I distinctly wanted to avoid buying a machine made in China, so I did some research on affordable machines NOT made in China and came up with Janome, “Japan's oldest sewing machine company.” Whoopee! I read lots of reviews in which people mentioned the quality of a Japanese-built machine, so I went for the Model 2212, as it had great reviews across the board. Imagine my surprise when on the back of my new machine I saw,”Made in Taiwan!” Well, better Taiwan than China, but a disappointment anyway. About the machine, it is not as smooth or quiet as my 50 yr old (made in Japan) Sears machine, but it is much lighter and it does work well. I agree with all of the positive reviews as to the functionality of this machine. It will serve its purpose well. I just feel that Janome should mention on their own Web site that their machines are NOT made in Japan.

Excellent Machine
I purchased this machine because I wanted to teach myself to sew. I also purchased sewing for dummies. That was only a couple of weeks ago, and since then I made my wife a new top and myself a pair of 1672 boxers. Both turned out excellent. I love this machine, it is very easy to understand and use and at this point in my sewing level perfect for me. Thank you Janome for putting out a affordable machine.

Beginner in Sewing
I just got the Janome 2212. I am trying to learn how to sew on my own and will be taking some classes in April 2013. The Janome 2212 is so easy to understand and the machine is very smooth, quiet and powerful. I am very happy with my purchase of the Janome 2212 Sewing Machine.

Nice machine for basic sewing needs
Bought this to replace my 30 year old SInger, which was a workhorse. I like this Janome 2212. There are a few things though-the light switch is on the lower side, it should be in the front; the bobbin is a little hard to put in; the lift level is on the right and should be on the left side; machine does vibrate when you go too fast. I guess I am so used the things on my old Singer, it is just going to take a while to adjust. But overall, the bobbins wind up fast, the machine sews well. I am a basic sewer, so it seems to be fine for my needs and the price is very good. Look on retailmenot for coupon codes. I got 10% off and free shipping, but the bonus pack, which HSN does not offer.

A Hit with Mom
I can't speak from personal experience since it was a gift for my 83 year old mom who lives in another state. Her old machine broke down and she was anxious about whether she should get it repaired. So she was thrilled when a brand new one arrived on her doorstep. From what I hear, Mom absolutely loves the machine and been sewing on it almost every day since it arrived about a week ago. She lives with one of my sisters who tells me that Mom now goes around the house asking everyone if they have anything they want her to sew. So I guess you could say the machine was a hit! And thank you for the prompt service--much appreciated.
