Uncomplicated work horse.
Very simple and easy to use mechanical machine. Had difficulty with the self-threader device, so don't use it. But I'm very satisfied with the rest of the machine. Clear and easy to read Owners Manual, easy threading, in fact, everything works very very well. Couldn't be happier!

My wife loves it!
My wife loves it! Doesn't have a bunch of features she never uses. Can do heavy duty or regular fabric. Well made.

Get the Janome Bobbins
Great machine, just be sure to get quality thread and Janome's brand of bobbins. Had some problems initially until we bought better thread and only used the Janome bobbins that ship with the machine.

Customize hats?
This is the best budget sewing machine you can get if you customize hats. No problem with the machine so far and is way better than rather dated singer machine that I had so much trouble with. I highly recommend this to anyone that wants a standard modernized sewing machine.

Well built, easy to use
Used a Singer for the past 30 years but was told by the repair man the quality of Singers has gone done so wanted to try the Janome. Very happy with this machine. The variety of stitches covers all my needs and more. Love the design of the free arm and accessory box. Works beautifully.

A great sewing machine
I bought this sewing machine as a sort of sacrificial lamb. I inherited my mother's old mechanical Bernina sewing machine, that I absolutely love, but was feeling bad sewing heavy duty materials with it (canvas, nylon webbing...) I have a series of sewing projects that will put this sewing machine through a workout, and so I was looking for a simple mechanical heavy duty sewing machine that could take abuse. This one seemed to fit the bill. I have not used this sewing machine much yet, but I was amazed at how smoothly and silently it ran. It does have some oddities to it. The storage compartment is an odd choice, though I can understand it, removing it gives access to the bobin, and set it up for sewing cuffs and the like. I also wish it didn't use plastic bobins, though that is just a taste thing.
