We looked at sewing machines locally and via the internet. This machine kept coming up to one of the top 3. We ordered it via Amazon and it arrived clean and on-time. We unpacked it and set it up for use. Everything works as advertized. Have not use it extensively yet but am happy with the results so far.

I needed to sew several embroidered patches on a denim jacket. Tried a few by hand. Took FOREVER. I had never operated a sewing machine prior to buying this one. The included instruction manual taught me how to thread the machine, adjust the stitch size and thread tension. Sewed a few undesirable patches on an old pair of jeans for practice. This thing has saved me several hours of time, compared to sewing the patches on by hand. Plows through a patch with with that plastic iron on back and the denim jacket. Even bangs through areas where patches are sewn on top of a hem (where there are several layers of denim and the patch). ...and this machine is made of metal, like the good music from my day. This review was based on the TB12 version of this machine with the Threadbanger logo.

Worth every penny.

This works for me!
So far, so good. I purchased this machine because of the price and also that most reviewers thought it did OK on heavy items. I repair thick dog blankets and my Kenmore machine just couldn't hack it - skipped stitches and shredded threads no matter the needle and thread used. The Janome does pretty good on the blankets - it isn't perfect but there are far fewer skipped stitches and it rarely gets bogged down. It takes the abuse and these blankets can be abusive. Dogs don't care about perfection and I am very happy with the machine. I've used it on normal thicknesses and also made many buttonholes and so far the machine has worked wonderfully. It is also easy to clean & maintain. The instructions provided are easy to follow.
