You Can Never Go Wrong With a Good Janome Machine...
I purchased this for my teen daughter who finally decided she wanted me to teach her how to sew. I have a Janome that I love and hasn't failed me yet...BUT my daughter's machine is amazing that I want to upgrade. I runs smoothly, easy to work with. The manual is written clearly and easy to comprehend. My daughter is in heaven and is constantly sewing and learning to quilt. This was a big improvement compared to her Singer sewing machine that was given to her which had her in tears. You can never go wrong with a good Janome machine!!

The machine is great and no problems
The machine is great and no problems. My eight year old granddaughter loves it. The only thing I should have realized is that it does not have a drop in bobbin. But I showed her how to do it once or twice and she got it.

Got this for my wife for Christmas
I've used it to sew patches on my scouter uniform. The wife has not tried it yet. She wanted a Janome 2212 but I gave her an upgrade to the 2222 for just a few dollars more. We had a Singer heavy duty that we lost in a house fire. The Janome is not as powerful or fast as the Singer was but it works fine for most anything we'll need it for.

I have hope that she will enjoy sewing with this machine
I bought this for my 13 yr old granddaughter as her first sewing machine. She was able to thread the machine, fill the bobbin and sew a seam with no frustration or undue drama. I have hope that she will enjoy sewing with this machine.

My first sewing machine-I like it!
We received the sewing machine timely, new in the box. I purchased this as a beginner sewing machine. It took me about 3 hours to figure out how to set it up, in terms of threading it and setting up the spools. I have absolutely no experience with a sewing machine, so do not discount the time it took me to set it up. After you learn how to thread the machine and the needle the first time, I think this process runs pretty smoothly. I still didn't get the needle threaded correctly with the automatic threader. I ended up threading the needle myself. Again, I do not know if that is beginner's luck or just not a great design. It may be that way with all machines. Being new to sewing, I thought when it meant automatic, it really meant automatic and hands- free. But not a big deal. I used a magnifier and threaded it the needle in a second. I have to work on the tension a little bit, because it did eat up the material (basic cotton for pillow cases) trying to sew right on the edge of the fabric to avoid any fraying, but again that may be beginner's luck and trial and error again. I think I am satisfied with this machine. I am impressed. It did what I expected a sewing machine to do. I look forward to using it. If I find any errors with the machine as I progress, I will report. I think it will handle thicker fibers, such as those you might use when sewing a quilt. I researched a lot of machines, and a friend recommended this brand over Singer. So I am looking forward to trying a brand that is new to me in terms of brand recognition.
