This is my 1st embroidery machine and it is great. One note, when I opened the box, there were some screws in the box. If this happens, contact Sew Vac Direct immediately and they will pay for shipping to/from and make sure everything is tight at no charge. The arm was loose as well, so it wasn't embroidering properly, but they fixed that too. I have purchased tons of embroidery files from embroiderydesigns.com (.jef format) and I can easily use the design window to add additional features such as outlines, lettering, other designs, etc. I am very pleased with this machine and the support SewVacDirect provides.
Sew vac direct delivered this machine with the best bundle out there. I had some questions, they answered all my questions about the machine and more. The people who work there are very friendly and informed . I just finished my first embroidery. The machine is quiet and fast. I had an older machine and it's amazing how much better the new machine is. I also got the memory craft 650 sewing machine. Love them both. I would recommend getting a embroidery only machine and a sewing machine separately. It is the only way to go. So Happy. Thank you, Nancy
I love this machine! it is the same as the MC 500E, except with a smaller hoop capacity, so all the You Tube videos, tutorials, etc. for the 500E also apply to the 400E. I was new to machine embroidery and did not know how many things the machine can make. Sew Vac Direct has excellent customer service, and I got timely help with a few things I could not figure out. In addition to embroidering on fabric, I make freestanding lace bags, bookmarks, bowls, envelopes, bows, hats, 3D ornaments and more. I make waterproof coasters with specialty fabrics, embroider on card stock, and make bags with organza. There are endless possibilities. I am very happy with this purchase!
My fiance loves this and uses it all the time for all sorts of crafts and creations.
I've had this machine for almost 6 months, This is my 5th embroidery machine (which I still have three ) and it works great. I'm an experienced machine embroider and just wanted a bit larger hoop, I've owned a Janome Memory Craft 10001 for twelve years and it is still sewing and embroidering like it did the day I took it out of the box. Other than wanting a little larger hoop, I did not want to pay another $5000 plus for anotehr sewing /embroidery machine. If you are a new machine embroiderer, you cannot just buy an embroidery machine and start sewing without doing a lot of research about formats and stabilizers and correct thread and design sizes vs the hoops the machine has. This machine is a great machine but does require a bit of embroidering knowledge to perform at its best.
The machine met my expectation, but then again I am very partial to Janome machines. They are great!
I upgraded to this machine from my previous machine which was the Janome Memory Craft 350e, I have not had any problems with either machine except that with my 350e after eight years with no maintenance until it wouldn't stitch, got it fixed and still works like it did when I got it brand new. although I use my 400e more than I do my 350e now I still have them both and can have two projects going at the same time.
