Perfect right out of the box
Purchased this serger after checking out reviews on the Web. Juki seemed to have a good reputation for reliability. It came threaded with the threads cut off & wrapped around the presser foot knob. A lot of people tie on another thread and do not thread the machine.I was determined to learn how to thread it and removed the cut off threads & threaded it with new thread. It was not as hard as I thought it would be but you will need tweeser's and the supplied thread hook. I tested the machine and it sewed perfectly. The machine was quieter than I expected and seems to be well built. I was impressed with the fit and finish of the parts as well as the cast aluminum frame. When operating there is very little vibration.Looks like a keeper, time will tell.

It sews like a dream - very sturdy, smooth and threading is not all that difficult. I had been using another brand, older machine which caused constant headaches and frustration. My new Juki is the complete opposite - I wish I would have purchased it sooner!

I used various sergers before but this is my first serger I owned. It cuts various fabric nicely, thread tension is good. I wish this model comes with a waste collector or a guide to a trash can.

Works excellent so far. No bells and whistles but still very much worth every penny and then some! Stitch and tension adjustments work well and are very easy to use after a few minutes of learning the machine. The light(er) weight and handle make it perfect for small studio spaces with limited room or lots of other equipment.

Awesome serger
I have owned this for almost a year now, it is so simple to use and the stitch quality is stellar. In honesty this is the only serger I have ever owned so I can't compare it to anything, but I have been very impressed. I was a little scared because of all the people out there talking about how hard sergers are to thread, but I had no problems threading this machine. The color coded paths really make it easy to figure out. I have used all the possible stitches with the exception of the 2 thread, the manual doesn't explain how to do it and so I haven't tried. Seriously though, this makes sewing up knits an absolute breeze and I love it!
