Easy machine
Easy to set up with a generous hoop. It threads itself. Standard fare for Brother. The only thing that stung was there is no memory stick included and for hundreds of $$ I think Brother could put one in the box for us. You can't hook up to your computer you need a flash drive or you will be stuck using the beautiful designs in the machine. So get with it Brother! I'm not an experienced woman with these machines but this really doesn't take any talent. Just enough skill to center your work and wait. I was running a design from Nancy Zeiman and Eileen Roche for an infinity scarf and it ran 72 minutes. (All white) Amazing how most of the time my husband and I just sat there and watched every stitch. It has stitch counter capability so if you count your stitches you'll know where to start after changing bobbins and threads. Also, I have pre-threaded bobbins from Brother in white, but, the white comes through the design so I load up with color bobbins before I get started. I love using variegated threads and using one color in the upper and a different color in the bobbin. Stabilizers are super important especially with designs that use lots of threads. What a treat just to have something this nice that I can actually use. I will be looking at the Babylock's and higher end embroidery/sewing combos in the future. Love this machine.

This gets a Newbie thumbs up!
This is my first embroidery machine. I did some research before deciding on the Brother PE770. There are lots of good reviews on this machine and it really deserves it. I think it is great for the newbie to learn on too. I unboxed it and read the directions and went step by step to embroider my first item. I decided to pick a stored pattern, butterfly, and stitched that up on some fleece. It looked beautiful. The next day, I decided I would try something with more color and I stitched up a Mickey Mouse that I downloaded from the Brother site. I put that on my USB stick and it easily downloaded onto the machine with their included instructions. It prompted me to change colors and was easy to do. I like that Brother has a help menu on the screen that will show you what you need to know to use this machine. This is so much easier to use than a sewing machine. I did purchase Set of 4 Hoops for Brother PE 700, 700II, 750, 770, 780D, Innovis 1000, Innovis 1200, Innovis 1250D, PC-6500, PC-8200, PC-8500, PC-8500D, Babylock Ellure, Ellure Plus Emore Ellure ESL and Esante ESE2 for this on Amazon and they work great. Yes, you can even use the 5 x 12 but you have to move the hoop up or down and reposition the next design but it makes it easier to leave your hoop on and make a bigger embroidery area without having to rehoop your design. There are youtube videos on this. I am looking forward to all the things I can create with this machine. It's stiches up nicely and it's not too heavy if you need to move it around. This is going to make some great personalized gifts.

Get the Brother PE770 embroidery machine
This is my 2nd Brother PE770 that I've purchased from Amazon. I literally wore out the first one. It had over 8 million stitches on it. I can't tell you how much enjoyment I had creating so many pretty things with it. I made table clothes, place-mats, t-shirts, quilts and lots of other things. I have a lot of money invested in threads of all kinds. The only thing I have a problem with is metallic thread. There should be a special needle and or bobbin for metallic threads for Christmas projects. I muddle through that one. Get this machine. It will bring so much enjoyment to your life if you like to sew or make things.

Good machine for the price.
I have had this machine for several years. It's been a really good machine for the price, as long as I use genuine Brother hoops on it. Would not recommend other brands; they began to give me problems and it took me a long time to figure out what the issue really was. I have had many problems with tension but I think now it was because of the alternate hoops I was using at the time. I do recommend purchasing a service policy if possible since it's nearly impossible to work on this machine yourself (at least for me). With the service policy from a local dealer, I can take the machine in any time it needs an adjustment and it's free. It has relieved a lot of stress when I am strapped for money and have an important custom job I'm trying to get out, and the machine broke down at a critical point (as usual, right?)

Happy Stitching with the PE-770
I have been using this machine for nearly a year now. I don't understand why Brother changed from directly connecting the computer to the machine, to using the flash memory. I prefer the direct connection to the computer. It seems faster to transfer designs on my old Brother SE-400 than on the PE770. The quality of stitching is noticeably better than on the SE-400. The larger hoop and available additional larger or smaller sizes is very helpful. The "built-in" designs are useless, but with the vast availability of designs online that hasn't been a problem. Don't expect a lot of help from the Owner's Manuals. In my opinion, the included manuals are almost as useless as the included designs. You can find answers to almost everything that gives you problems on youtube. I did have some minor problems with the machine that required a repair. Luckily there is a Brother dealer locally and I was able to get the repair done quickly - actually while I waited. It was a very minor repair that was covered under warranty. Overall, I am quite happy with both of the Brother machines and I still use the SE-400 for smaller designs.

Fantastic! Wait till you see the designs you can make with it!
It took me an while to write a review as I wanted to make sure to work with the PE770 before I could write an educated review. This machine is fabulous! Take out of the box and start working on amazing designs. It does help if you had/have another embroidery machine (I started with the SE-400) so you have an idea how to work well with it. Also, I recommend that you follow Brother's suggestions as in: own bobbins (they are different from the other Brothers), good quality needles (75/11 is the most recommended) and good quality thread (I use Madeira or Sulky). Does not hurt having good quality embroidery designs as well. There are some "corks" that you will need to work on like when you thread the machine, making sure that the thread is really secure on the foot before you push the auto threader or it won't thread correctly. The embroidery hoop have to be on center of the carriage (it "snaps" when you put on) and placed firmly or it will move when you are working. The only thing that I find difficult, and I won't take any stars because of it, is that it is hard to clean pieces of thread or dust that may accumulate in the body of the machine. I think should be easier to clean. That's all! I love my PE770! Would buy again and highly recommend.

I love my new embroidery machine!
I have been waiting and saving for my embroidery machine. At first I was going to go with the 4x4 but after much thought I decided the 5x7 was a better buy. I have used this for many projects. I am even starting a home business with this. I already own a brother sewing machine. So I can see similarities between the machines. There are lots of youtube videos about this machine. I watched several of them before making the decision to buy this one. Getting the designs onto the machine to embroider is easy. Some of the fonts they already have loaded are nice too. I also knew I wanted 2 separate machines for sewing and embroidery. I didn't want to be out one machine if the other wasn't working. I recommend this. It is worth the price. This was the best price I could find anywhere. If your interested in taking the plunge into embroidery this is a great machine.
