Little work horse!
I LOVE this machine. After doing a lot of research I decided to buy and am very happy I did. I teach sewing lessons for kids and wanted something that was durable and easy to use. This lovely just fits the bill! One surprise about the machine: last night I was sewing tissue knit with this machine. I honestly did not think it would do a very good job but thought I would just try! Machine handled it beautifully and with no problems what so ever. I was kind of shocked when I got pretty much as good of a result as I would with my high dollar Viking. Really can't say enough good things about it!!

I've had a "Sears" (Kenmore) machine that lasted a LONG time, then a Singer that was basically disposable and now this one. WHY did I wait so long to get a Janome? I love this....LOVE LOVE LOVE! So easy to use although the bobbin winding takes some getting used to - it's just not right on top of the machine, it's within the top of the machine so it's a little harder to thread but not bad.

Great little machine!
Came as expected, box was a bit dirty, but that's shipping. The machine included leather needles and a leather/vinyl foot. It also had a pack of bobbins and two other packs of needles, assorted sizes. It worked well, after unpacking it (it was packed well, with lots of foam pieces). It is so quiet! I was able to figure out how to thread the bobbin and the machine easily. The manual was easy to follow, but the print is small, so I also downloaded the manual to my ipad. The settings are well explained. The knob that changes the stitches was a bit "clunky" at first, but is freeing up as I have used the machine. I have sewn several thicknesses of cloth, for practice and it seems to work well, not even hesitating over seams. I like that the six feet that came with it fit in the top and are well marked. It is easy to change feet, too. The automatic threader will take a bit of getting used to, but worked! All in all, I think I just need to get out a project and get busy enjoying sewing again!

Great machine! Not for precision quilt piecing.
I really wanted to love this machine. I've been a seamstress and quilter for 50-years. I prefer mechanical sewing machines over computer sewers. I bought a Janome-2212 (lightweight portable) at Christmas -- love it for portability and quilt piecing. The Janome HD3000 is also portable. It has the added advantages of heavy-duty quality, which is great for general stitching and sewing through quilt layers. But it gets 4 stars for precision piecing. The light is on the left of the machine for general illumination, not over the immediate needle area for precision stitching. The ruler guide has 1/8" and 1/3", not 1/4". The old trick of placing painter's-tape along the 1/4" mark was impossible because of the extra-wide feed dogs. A 1/4" quilting foot didn't help because of all the shiny chrome reflections making the foot almost invisible. Disappointed, I returned the machine.

Nice and sturdy
It works well. It's my first sewing machine so I can't really compare it to anything, and I've only done some test strips, haven't really gotten a chance to do something finished with it since I'm just learning. But from a construction standpoint, it seems solid, like it'll last a bit. It would be nice if the cord for the pedal was longer. I have a pretty high table that I have to sit it on and the pedal juuuuust hits the floor flat. Another foot or two length of cord could help
