Juki HZL-DX7 Computerized Sewing and Quilting Machine

If you've been searching for a high-performance, lightweight, and affordable sewing machine, the Juki HZL-DX7 ticks all those boxes and more! Juki has focused their efforts to make a user friendly, efficient, and feature rich sewing machine. This is the perfect machine for any at-home sewer, and is perfect for both intermediate and expert-level sewers.

As one of the higher-end offerings from Juki, the HZL-DX7 has the ability to tackle almost any sewing project. It always produces even and consistent straight stitches and great zigzag stitching. The HZL-DX7 even makes free-motion quilting easier than ever.

The HZL-DX7 produces beautifully even stitches thanks to the Juki “box feed” that is integrated into this machine to ensure consistent and even fabric feeding. The HZL-DX7 even handles thicker fabrics and layered fabrics beautifully because of this unique feeding system. The box feed even allows you to stitch through any type of fabric whether lightweight or heavyweight. It can even create even stitching on stretchy fabrics!

This machine can do more than just simple fabric projects. You can make clothes and quilts using the HZL-DX7. In fact, setting the Juki HZL-DX7 to sew with the presser foot lifted and floating ever so slightly will help ensure professional quality quilts without the need for stitch pulling.

Button holes are easier to create than ever before thanks to Juki's sensor buttonholing system. There are 16 choices of buttonhole types so you can choose which one best suits your project.

The Juki HZL-DX7 comes equipped with a backlit LCD touchscreen display. Using this feature, you can select patterns and stitches with ease. Choose from 287 stitches including alphabetical/numerical fonts!

You can use the HZL-DX7's intuitive button system to control the machine. Some of the features these buttons control are:

  • Reverse stitch
  • Lock stitch
  • Thread trim
  • Needle position
  • Starting and stopping

The machine also comes with an auto-lift presser foot, and you can assign functions to the foot switch/pedal’s heel portion for easy access.

You can adjust the sewing speed on the Juki HZL-DX7 too. The maximum speed is 1050 stitches per minute. If you need to sew on tight corners or be particularly precise on a section of your project, you can use the low-speed or inching sewing function. Your stitches can also be adjusted in length or width with the adjustment dial.

The Juki HZL-DX7 sewing machine comes with 30 accessories, and includes the standard Juki warranty of five years of protection against mechanical part defects, two years' protection against electronic part defects, and 90 days of protection against defects of workmanship or material.

The Juki HZL-DX7 - A feature-rich dream machine!

Float function prevents uneven seams - By pressing the float button, you can sew with the presser foot slightly raised. Raising the presser foot to float allows you to sew fabrics without pushing layers or creating uneven seams.

Easily create and enjoy beautiful buttonholes with Juki's combination of industrial background and modern technology - Use the buttonhole sensor system for optimal feed on all types of fabric. You will love the one step buttonhole as it measures and evenly sews on both the right and left sides. Automatically works in optimum order for a perfectly finished buttonhole.

Foot switch function - Allowing for greater versatility, Juki now offers assigned foot control options. With the ability to assign function to the heel side of the foot controller you can now lift the presser foot, trim threads, reverse stitch or single stitch by pressing on the heel side of the foot controller.

Great machine. A bit too loud at high speed settings. Very easy to handle/thread/add bobbin. I highly recommend it.

The machine was shipped from SewVacDirect and arrived by UPS in excellent condition. This machine was purchased as gift for my wife and she loves it. This model comes with all the accessories you could ever want. The automatic button sizing shoe is incredible. It is a solid machine and should provide years of service.

but I think I’m really going to like the machine

I’ve only had this a few weeks, but I think I’m really going to like the machine. If you’ve been sewing on a mechanical machine for a long time, an electronic machine has many features that make sewing easier, but there’s definitely a learning curve. This has more “included” features than a comparable Bernina or Janome. I’m happy with my choice. And it does sew a nice straight stitch.

    I love this machine!

Love love love this machine! I use juki industrial machines at my work doing alterations and fell in love with them. This machine is everything I wanted and more. I love all the stitch options, needle threader (make sure the needle is in the highest position possible or it doesn't work), I love the leg bar to lift the foot while I'm holding the fabric with both hands, and I love the automatic cut & lift by pressing my heel. If you need a really good machine with some bells and whistles, this is the way to go!

Excellent choice for beginners and experienced garment sewists alike!

Posted by SewRusty on 31st Oct 2018

It took me a long time to work up the courage to buy a sewing machine online and not test it out first. Juki machines have rave reviews for a reason, they just work. No fuss, no drama, just perfect stitches. If you are looking at a sewing machine, try reading reviews on them on PatternReview. Several of us have this machine and have reviewed it on there, plus there is a whole forum dedicated to the care and feeding of your new Juki. I was kind of lukewarm about this machine when I first started using it, but now I'm sold. If you are coming from a mechanical or minimalistic computerized machine, this machine may be overwhelming at first. There are a few things I wish it had that it doesn't (glass touch screen!!), and the stitch selection process might take a while to get used to, but once you get past that, you're golden. I recommend this machine to garment sewists, but it would probably work pretty well for a casual quilter. I think I hardcore quilter would probably prefer more harp space. This machine would be an excellent beginner machine--the price is decent, the quality is great, and you won't have to worry about "outgrowing" it. (Unless you get bit by the embroidery bug, but that's a whole 'nother machine.) It even comes with a lot of accessories that are actually useful, so you don't have to go out and buy a bunch of special feet or an extension table.

    THE WAITING IS OVER

Posted by Michael White on 31st Oct 2018

I have an industrial Juki walking foot machine with needle positioning that I use for leather and suede and that I really love. It has that quiet power and confidence of a beautifully-designed piece of equipment. Working with lighter fabrics with my Bernina was ok but I felt like I was using a homemaker machine without the smoothness and control of the big one. The larger Bernina machines have not gotten good press and I love my serger that Juki makes as well, so I decided on the DX7. It came today and was a great choice. They have obviously incorporated their industrial know-how into this consumer model. It sews quietly and beautifully. The thread cutter is convenient and the needle threader even works! Buttonholes are a breeze and the controls are very visual and intuitive. I love the multi-function pedal and it comes with lots of accessories including a generous work table and a knee lift. Bravo!

I bought myself a birthday present

Posted by DQ you on 31st Oct 2018

This really is the machine of my dreams. I've been sewing on a Singer from the 50s.. which I still have, but it was time to get a machine with dedicated stretch stitches, and yes a thread cutter. It has this and more. It runs smoothly and the presser foot goes up so high - I will have no problem hemming over seams of jeans. I have fallen in love with the float option - although I don't quilt, I love that the fabric is locked in place until I decide to cut or turn. The machine is quiet and the table is great, although I will be adding to it at the rear to take larger garments as they are sewn (insulation foam board cut to fit, covered with plastic sheeting - look on YouTube for tutorials). I am finding that lots of the snap on feet work that I have from other machines - and not just that they will attach, but the machine will sew with them. That is a consideration with some brands where the machine is so smart it knows if you are using a generic foot. Honestly I don't think I will ever outgrow this machine. Juki should do more marketing of this machine so it is better known - it really is a gem.
